Those of you who attend the 10:30 service have seen our Choral Scholars singing with
our Sanctuary Choir, as well as hearing several of them singing solos and duets in our
services. Our current scholars all attend the University of Montevallo, and they all sing
in the Concert Choir there under the direction of Dr. Melinda Doyle. We are grateful to
Dr. Doyle for sending these students our way. Their contributions to the music ministry
at Southminster are greatly appreciated!

Soprano Madison Smith calls Cullman, Alabama, home. Madison is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, as well as a major in Mass Communication. Besides singing, Madison also enjoys dancing and writing.

Tenor Jaiden Sturdivant is currently a Junior majoring in Music Education. Jaiden is one our our “local” scholars from right here in Birmingham. Besides singing, he enjoys writing and playing tennis, and hopes to become a teacher and entrepreneur.

Sometimes a soprano, sometimes an alto, Ginny Waid, another of our “local” scholars, hails from Trussville. Ginny is a Junior majoring in Music Education and Vocal Performance. Besides singing, Ginny also likes to cook.

Alto Avery Ford, our third “local” scholar, comes from Leeds. Avery is a Junior Music Education major who enjoys singing and playing the guitar.

Tenor Kooper Rooks hails from Hartselle, Alabama. Kooper is a Junior pursuing a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Besides singing (and music in general). Kooper enjoys dance, nature, and watching movies. He hopes to become a music therapist at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
