February 20-22 youth from Southminster enjoyed gathering at Living River for the 2026 Presbytery Youth Retreat. The theme of the retreat this year was "Unplugged and Untangled!", and was keynoted by Rev. John McCrosky from Heritage Presbyterian Church in Acworth, GA. Through keynote, small groups, recreation and worship youth explored how they can unplug and untangle from the things that distract them from God, and how they can get plugged in to the things that draw them closer to God.

Birmingham Youth Group (BYG) took 8 youth on the trip, including 5 from Southminster. The group was chaperoned by Robert Newman and Rosemary Leach (Edgewood Presbyterian). In addition to meaningful keynote and worship, youth enjoyed a weekend long "Unplugged and Untangled Olympics!" Four teams competed in a series of games throughout the weekend to accumulate points and go for gold! It was a lot of fun!

Southminster leaders and youth played a key role in planning and leading the retreat. Robert Newman, Shelby Benoit and Lily Hughes are currently on the Presbytery Youth Council, and worked hard in the months leading up to the retreat, and worked to lead activities and games over the weekend. They did a great job!

Enjoy some pictures from the weekend!
