Southminster Foundation Supports 12 Grant Recipients in 2025

The following organizations were the recipients of the Foundation's funding

for 2025 based on a specific need described in each grant application. The

Foundation’s grant applications are due each year on September 1. The grant

application is on the website a few months prior to the deadline. Please

encourage any non profits that you hold dear to your heart or for which you

volunteer to apply for a grant in 2026. With your gifts, we can award EVEN

MORE!


ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF BIRMINGHAM

$4,200 to the Operation School Bell project which provides clothes (2 pair of

jeans, 3 casual shirts, hooded sweatshirt, undergarments and socks) plus

hygiene kits to students selected by school counselors.





BUILD CONGO SCHOOLS

$4,000 providing two motorcycles for the school counselors and inspectors to ride as they travel between schools.





CAHABA VALLEY HEALTHCARE

$1,000 to assist in funding a Community Screening event which provides free dental and vision care to those of low-moderate income.





FIRST LIGHT

$2,500 to provide beds for children whose families are moving into the Rapid Rehousing program so they will not be sleeping on the floor. 





GREATER BIRMINGHAM MINISTRIES

$1,500 to increase the capacity to store non-perishable foods and to purchase more nutritious food for their Food Bank.





KID ONE

$2,500 towards the replacement of a vehicle with 250,000 miles used to transport children to health care facilities who otherwise would not have any transportation for medical treatment.





LIBBY’S FRIENDS

$3,000 to provide accommodations for children with special needs such as communication devices, special strollers, and custom orthotics.




LIVING RIVER

$6,400 for the purchase and installation of a large storage shed at the lake, a special and sacred part of our Presbyterian retreat center. 





PRESBYTERIAN HOME FOR CHILDREN

$4,750 for a new HVAC unit at Ascension Leadership Academy that must be specially fabricated to replace the 58 year old unit that has been temporarily patched.





SOUTH HIGHLAND OUTREACH PROJECT

$1,250 to support the Therapeutic Arts and Culture Program for the low-income individuals struggling with mental illness that the Outreach Project serves. 





URBAN MINISTRY

$5,000 to complete the renovation of the workshop used by the WE Build apprentices who construct and renovate homes in the West End community for the graduates of the apprenticeship program.





THE WELLHOUSE

$2,500 for dental care for women housed at The WellHouse who have been exploited by sex trafficking. In their grant application they conveyed that the physical healing and change in the smiles of their residents is symbolic of the healing growth taking place in their souls while on their journey at the WellHouse.
