"Welcome one another, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." ~Romans 15:7
In the ministry and the mission of the church we seek to reflect the welcoming grace of Jesus Christ our Lord, Head of the Church. Our congregation of approximately 500 members is a part of the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, the Synod of Living Waters, and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In connection with the larger church we seek to proclaim the gospel in word and deed in our community and throughout the world. In the life of Southminster, may you experience the welcoming grace of Jesus Christ.
ADVENT is a season of preparation for the coming of Christ. The word "advent" is from the Latin "adventus" which means "coming". Illumined candles symbolize the joy at Jesus' coming to bring God's light to the world. There are four candles, one for each week of Advent. Purple is the liturgical color symbolizing both penitence and royalty. Advent is a season of hope as we anticipate the future coming of Christ to establish God's rule over all.
