Youth MinistriesMiddle and high school students meet every Sunday evening during the school year for a time of fellowship, study, and sharing a meal together. They also participate in mission and service projects, as well as attending Presbytery retreats throughout the year. The middle school youth have the opportunity in the summer to attend the Montreat Middle School Conference, and the high-school youth attend the Montreat Youth Conference. The youth are very active in the life of the church, including participating in Sunday School, worship, and doing service on Mission Wednesdays following the Fellowship Supper. |
Children's MinistriesWe have a lively and faithful group of children here at Southminster. Children of all ages participate in Sunday School and Worship, and they are actively included in all of the various activities of the church. There are also special activities for children throughout the year, such as Vacation Bible School, children's choirs, and the Christmas pageant. A nursery is available Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and for other church-wide meetings and activities. |
Adult MinistriesThere are many ways for adults to become involved in the life of the church at Southminster. Presbyterian Women gather regularly, both as a whole and in smaller circles, for Bible study and mission. Presbyterian Men meet monthly for Bible study and a meal. Other Bible studies meet periodically throughout the year. From September to May, we have a weekly Fellowship Supper on Wednesday evenings, which include supper followed by a program. |

Prayer Chain MinistryPrayer is a wonderful and amazing gift. It provides us with a wonderful feeling that God knows, understands, and cares about the problems and joys in our lives. Beyond that, prayer is an excellent way to share in a community of faith. Praying for the joys and sorrows allows us to draw close to one another, sharing in each others' excitement or pain. Our Prayer Chain offers an excellent way to "stay close" to one another in prayer. Many of our members receive our Prayer Chain through email and several via Phone Tree. If you are already receiving prayer chain information, please set aside a special time in your day to pray for the individuals and families. If you are not receiving prayer chain information and would like to, please contact Betsy Murphy in the church office (205-822-1124) or by email. You are also encouraged to call the church office and offer prayer information so you can have a community of believers praying for you. |
