CHILDREN IN WORSHIP
At Southminster we welcome children in worship in a variety of ways!
Children are always welcome to stay throughout the worship service and be part of the congregation as we give glory and honor to God.
However, knowing that some children may have needs to move and engage with God and each other in a variety of ways, we also have these options for different ages:
Children’s Message: Occurs during the 10:30 a.m. service before the Gospel Reading. A time for children of all ages to discuss with each other and their leader one of the Biblical stories or ideas in worship that day.
Children’s Worship: Directly after the Children’s Message children age 4-1st Grade are welcome to go with a volunteer to Children’s worship. There children have their own worship service, complete with scripture reading, prayer, and a FEAST! On days where Baptism or Holy Communion is celebrated, the volunteer will return children to the sanctuary to sit with their parents. On other days, parents can pick up their children from the Children’s Worship room, located in the hallway behind the sanctuary.
Nursery: For infants up to 4 years old, we have a nursery with staff and volunteers, ready to care for and play with the children present. The relationship building that happens here is a great reminder of God’s love. The nursery is available for any worship service at the church and is located at the end of the hallway behind the Sanctuary.
Additionally, WORSHIP BAGS are available on Sundays when Children's Worship is not offered (during summer months). These bags are for the use of children 4K through 2nd grade and are available outside Pastor Ben's office. The intent of these bags is to occupy youngsters during worship in a reflective and even worshipful way. Grab a bag for your child and return it after the service ends.
